Pits; everyone has them, and they can stink and make your clothes wet. But worse than the odor is the chemicals used on this delicate place. If you have been considering a natural deodorant, consider Bar-Maids Probiotic Deodorant. It is aluminum, paraben, and phthalate free and currently offered in 2 sizes and two scents. Give your pits a breather! You could come out smelling like a rose (geranium) – which, by the way, will be released in January.

Jasmin has put one more row on her  Ashburn, in Lollipop Yarn Flibertigibbet Sock, for the #BigBadBergalong, and we have one kit to give as a prize. She has moved her shawl to ChiaoGoo Red Lace needles and these are not slick enough either.

Gigi cast on the Sidewalk sweater out of Venizia Bulky, and got two skeins knit up.

Jasmin has a plan for the Gone Astray cardigan for Genevieve, as to where the sheepdogs are going to be. Gigi suggests lifelines, and Jasmin is so glad she has a giant ball of Aunt Lydia's cotton yarn. We announce that the Grinch-along  will start on December 1st. We will have prizes. Also, Joanne's has "Grinchmas" fabric.

Jasmin has also made progress on the Anna cardigan, Gigi worked some more on the Vanilla socks out of Regia. She has cast on a preemie hat and finished the Barley baby hat, by Tin Can Knits.

Last night Jasmin worked on the Bifrost scarf. She loves to use bicycle clips  for holding the scarf neatly in place. She is very pleased with clasped weft joins.

Jasmin has also made a little progress on her Hamilknit hat.  Also there is a readalong for the book by Lin Manuel-Miranda.
Jasmin has started the R&R Hoodie for Genevieve out of Knitted Wit Love is Love.

In stitches(17:00)

Gigi is wearing wool socks, a hat at night, and the Knitmore cowl.

Jasmin wore her BostonJen hat (the Greyhaven Hat), Genevieve wore her Elsa sweater.

Events:(20:06)

We will be attending Stitches West,  February 23-26, 2017. We mention Backstage Knitting podcast.

Contest:(26:38)

The newest prize is a house special#2 kit from the bar maids. We have a winner! (Dorothy)

Mother Knows Best:(27:31)

This week we answer a question out of the "What do you want to hear about?" thread on the Knitmore Girls forum, about making socks out of a long tube. Gigi mentions Jenny's amazingly stretchy bind-off. Jasmin is also fond of the sewn bind off.

When Knitting Attacks:(31:51)

When knitting on her January Skies, Gigi missed a bobble early on the row. That needed to be tinked back. Later, when
snuggling with Genevieve, she leaned on the needle and had a bunch of stitches fall off the needle.

Doing the
row after a row of bobbles, she noticed that there were too many stitches not picked up on bobble row
. Also, she couldn't find Kroy fall colors anywhere she looked, neither at Michael's, nor  Joanne's or Beverly's. She learned about this yarn from The Knit Girllls podcast.

Jasmin suffers from decision paralysis, and her Knitting Attack is more existential than concrete.

Review:(38:25)

This week we review Cutest Toddler Knits, by Val Pierce. Jasmin mentions the Playful Stripes cardigan

And Sew On:(46:35)

Gigi mended Sam's gi and did some decorative embroidery that she later hid. She mentions the decorative mending class that Sivia Harding teaches.

Jasmin also dug out a tardis purse that needs some love and some stitching.

Admin: If you buy something from one of our advertisers (or anything you hear about on the podcast), please let the business know.

We have a bunch of great books that we are excited to review Annetarsia Knits, and Yarnitecture,
and Nicky Epstein's new patterns.

Jasmin mentions the Click, Clack, Moo series of children's books. (Also, the rest of the farmyard books from the collection are wonderful and hysterical.)

Jasmin has made significant progress on her Ashburn , in Lollipop Yarn Flibertigibbet Sock, for the #BigBadBergalong, and we have one kit to give as a prize.

Gigi has finally started a pattern, the January Skies,#BigBadBergalong, out of Black Trillium Fibres

Jasmin got some golden yarn from Voolenvine out of the Blitz base in the Harpsichord colorway.
This will also be a #BigBadBergalong.

Jasmin has finished the sleeves on the Gone Astray sweater for Genevieve and joined them to the body.

Gigi has finished knitting her part of the Polygon blanket, by TinCanKnits out of Black Trillium Fibers. We love the clear, blanket size knitting bag.  Also, she has started the Pop blanket, and Gigi is not sure she likes the bind off row.

Jasmin is working on the Anna sweater.  She also bought an Anna tutu set to go with the Frozen cardigans that made Genevieve very happy.

Gigi finished Vanilla socks out of Berry Colorful Yarnings for Jasmin.
Gigi also finished yet another preemie hat. She is planning to make pom poms for the hats.

In Stitches:(23:18)

Jasmin is wearing knitted socks with her clear Converse
Gigi is wearing wool socks. Jasmin wore her Sothia shawl, Genevieve wore her Elsa sweater. Jasmin was also wearing her "knit for brains" shirt.

We have lots of great prizes to give away. Feel free to double dip with any other KAL.

#elizalong also applies to this contest, since Elizabeth Doherty's  sweaters are polished and functional, and excellent for everyday wear.

Mother Knows Best:(29:58)

This week we answer a question out of the "What do you want to hear about?" thread on the Knitmore Girls forum, about bleeding spinning fiber.

When Knitting Attacks:(35:58)

Gigi was challenged by the very long repeat on the self striping sock yarn.

Jasmin got confused about right and wrong side row on her Ashburn.

Review:(40:27)

Grown, by Kate Oates

We are delighted to be part of the Grown Tour.

We also reviewed her Knits for Boys some time ago and loved it.

We love that the e-book is linked to ravelry and other websites

Gigi reminisces about the Ribbi Cardi

Jasmin also thinks that some of these sweaters would look amazing made out of the gradient yarns from Knit Circus.

Straw into Gold:(1:01:21)

Jasmin spun a Coral Romney/tussah Abby Batt, and Lisa Souza super wash merino in “Wild Things” (on the Device).

There was a pop, smoke, power loss, and then some excellent (and prompt) help.

Gigi tried to finish her Tour de Fleece spinning, and her driveband popped.

She was trying to fill the bobbin of her Woolee Winder to the brim.

Breaking news! Our blend of locally sourced beeswax, organic coconut oil, hempseed oil and zinc oxide will leave you more kissable than you are now. Customers report that Lo-Lo Lips is one of the best lip balms available. Why is it that some lip balms can cause your lips to dry out if you stop using them, or if you lose them (and let’s face it, we ALL lose them), you can end up chapped and raw. Lo-Lo Lips doesn’t force you to reapply in order to maintain a healthy balanced level of moisture ideal for your beautiful lips. Ten yummy flavors, no parabens, fillers, or dyes – just a natural lip moisturizer that has everything your lips want and nothing they don’t.  The truth is, your LIPS may not get addicted, but I dare anyone to try it and not feel like an addict! Kiss me, Lo-Lo, I’m in LOVE!

On the Needles:(0:37)

Gigi is still working on  Polygon blanket, by TincanKnits out of Black Trillium Fibres, Sublime DK superwash merino Gradient kits: Coral, Tidewater, Ursa. So potato chippy, but lost little bit of steam.
Jasmin has been been working on the Bifrost scarf from Infinite Twist.

Gigi finished the  Skandinavian sock from Little Box of Socks,.
Jasmin has made progress on the Poly Chevron Cowl with the Black Trillium “Frank it up” kit. She has been lusting after some black light reactive yarn she saw at White Birch Fiber Arts

Also, we are participating in the #BigBadBergalong, with Michelle from Actually Knitting, Down Cellar Studio, Knitting Butterflies, Prairie Girls, Kristi from In a Sknit, Commuter Jen from Commuter Knitter Podcast.

Jasmin cast on her Ashburn, in Lollipop Yarns Flibertigibbet Single Sock Kit, for the #BigBadBergalong, and we have one kit to give as a prize. Jasmin talks about the circular glass needles from Sheila Ernst that she is using.

We are so lucky to have the designer Melanie Berg offering our listeners a 10% discount on her patterns (self-published) starting September 15th, 2016 and ending November 2, 2016. Use the code BigBadBergAlong at checkout.

Gigi has finally picked a pattern, the January Skies, and the yarn, a gradient kit from Black Trillium Fibres, has been rinsed and balled and assembled into a kit.

She is also working on the Squircle sock, pattern by General Hogbuffer. She has been working on cuff but may make it into a vanilla sock, because there are so many stripes, the cuff is going to be longer than one repeat. She also has knitted another preemie hat.

Mother Knows Best:(29:22)

This week we talk about our favorite knitting bags and favorite project bags. Jasmin is fond of her project bags from The Fat Squirrel, and she also likes bags by Little Yarn in the Big Wool [CORRECTION: It's Little SKEIN in the Big Wool].

We use this Pinterest link to the tutorial we used. that we like very much, that is reminiscent of the Erin Lane Bags. We also like these bags from U-Line.

Let us know what you like in a project bag.

When Knitting Attacks:(41:01)

Gigi was working on the Scandinavian Socks. She did half a row in the wrong pattern, went back and carefully replaced the wrong stitches.

She was also working on the Polygon blanket. The count was off on one unit, she tried to fix it, and when that didn’t work, she ripped it out

Review:(42:51)

Knitted Cables, A Sourcebook by Nora Gaughan

We are introduced to the Stockinette Stitch Equivalent System.

Jasmin also likes Knitting Nature , by Norah Gaughan

Straw into Gold:(54:41

Jasmin participated in Spinzilla ! She was part of #TeamTextileWitches

The fiber she used was: Lisa Souza Emerald City Australian Superfine merino (spun on the Acadia), Lisa Souza Superwash Merino “Wild Things” (on The Device), and a Coral Romney/tussah Abby Batt (on the Device).

Gigi finished a nest of fiber from the project she started for Tour de Fleece, then started a new one. So little left to finish this project.

And Sew On:(1:00:53)

Gigi sewed ribbon onto some project bags.

She also worked on the Giraffe hats. She finds hand sewing spots challenging, not the peaceful experience she had imagined. The needle sticks in the fabric and has to be muscled through. She found that doing applique on fleece works better with less than 6 strands of floss.
