Breaking news! Our blend of locally sourced beeswax, organic coconut oil, hempseed oil and zinc oxide will leave you more kissable than you are now. Customers report that Lo-Lo Lips is one of the best lip balms available. Why is it that some lip balms can cause your lips to dry out if you stop using them, or if you lose them (and let’s face it, we ALL lose them), you can end up chapped and raw. Lo-Lo Lips doesn’t force you to reapply in order to maintain a healthy balanced level of moisture ideal for your beautiful lips. Ten yummy flavors, no parabens, fillers, or dyes – just a natural lip moisturizer that has everything your lips want and nothing they don’t.  The truth is, your LIPS may not get addicted, but I dare anyone to try it and not feel like an addict! Kiss me, Lo-Lo, I’m in LOVE!

On The Needles:(0:36)

Jasmin has finished the Coronation cardigan. Jasmin mentions the three books that she uses regularly by Ann Budd:  The Knitter's Handy Book of Patterns, The Knitter's Handy Book of Sweater Patterns, and The Knitter's Book of Top Down Sweaters. Jasmin talks about Colleen's Coronation Charts. She is searching for a box to keep leftover bits of yarn and buttons from sweaters she has finished. Jasmin and Genevieve are both very charmed by the Elsa crown that they take turns wearing.

Gigi has been working on the Copperplate and is reading the book Top Down: Reimagining Set-In Sleeve Design

Along with her knitting, and she is thrilled with the design and construction. The yarn she uses is Quince and Co Chickadee, that we first learned about from Paula from the Knitting Pipeline.

Jasmin is getting close to the end of the Spock sweater. Genevieve's Churchmouse sweater still sort of fits. She talks about needing to swatch Genevieve's Welcome to the Flock cardigan and for the Anna Sweater (inspired by Megknitficent's).

She wants to do Christmas sweaters for the kids (like this one), the Kate Oates way, so the sweaters can grow with the kids.

Gigi has finished the tubes for a pair of socks out of Opal, and they just need the afterthought heels.

Jasmin loves working with her hand spun, and she picked up the 2014 SPAKAL cardigan, and she is making progress. She is very excited about working with it.

Gigi has also been working on a pair of socks for Sam, which has been adventurous. It looks like this new incarnation of the sock should fit.

Also, she is working on the fifth preemie hat for this month.

Gigi thinks she wants an Ott Lite so she can see what she is sewing.

Review:(35:49)

This week we review Sew Sweet Creatures :Make Adorable Plush Animals and Their Accessories

We mention Susan B. Anderson and Rebecca Danger

Tour de Fleece Training:(42:48)

This week we are doing the training for weeks five and six. Clean your wheel and find your support network. We like Murphy's Oil soap and Wood Beams (call Morgaine at Carolina Homespun).

Jasmin likes the support that one can get from Team Sasquatch

Jasmin is swatching a Janet Heppler  Merino/Corriedale fleece for family Hiro's on the Acadia spinning wheel

Gigi thinks she would like to spin for Elizabeth Doherty's Helvetica for Tour de Fleece 2016.

And Sew On:(55:29)

Gigi did some boring mending. She is excited about the progress she has made on her fitting shell. #whatsasloper. Jasmin and Genevieve have been working on sewing a mermaid toy.

On The Needles:(0:33)

Jasmin has been finishing things, The Welcome to the Flock sweater for Rex is done. She also picked up a kit for Genevieve , and she did Anna Zilborg's perfect buttonhole out of Splendid Apparel.

Fashion and backing buttons are also sewn on. The author has also published the same sweater sized for adults and children.

The knitting on the  Coronation cardigan is done, but it is not photo ready. She is working on the zipper.

Gigi has taken out the last ball of Opal out of the bag of ten skeins of Opal, and cast it on.
Jasmin has been working on the Spock sweater, and she is working on a neck down SPAKAL Harvest cardigan.

We mention how brilliant the Knit Girllls are, because they have encouraged Jasmin into finishing a chest fulls of sweaters.

She mentions the Emily vs Jasmin challenge #stashdash2016 #teamcuteknitter

Gigi had started the Copperplate and has reached the armhole decreases.
Also, she started another preemie hat, and she is getting better at taking pictures of her knitting.
Also, Martina Behm had sent Gigi a set of beads to replace the ones she lost, and so she used them to bind of the 1000 Tulips. Stash dash!
Jasmin discusses how to calculate yardage for stash dash.

#elizalong  #projectsweater chest. This is the sweater equivalent of #operationsockdrawer.

Mother Knows Best:(23:46)

This week we talk about using quilt clips instead of pins for securing a zipper.

When Knitting Attacks:(31:59)

Gigi had cast on socks for Sam with a 72 stitch cuff and knit about seven inches. For herself she usually casts on 56 stiches. Her own cuffs are too tight for Sam, 72 stitches is too loose for him, so she ripped all of it out, and started over with a 64 stitch cuff.

Jasmin was working on her Spock sweater at night, in the dark, and she dropped a stitch in the black section.

Gigi had four stitches to bind off on the Thousand Tulips shawl with beads. The usual dental floss method of applying beads oriented them in the wrong direction, so she cut the yarn, threaded them on the yarn, and bound off.

Review:(39:24)

This week, we review
YARN,  a film directed by Una Lorenzen

Current theater listings can be found here.

Synopsis:
Meet the artists who are redefining the tradition of knit and crochet, bringing yarn out of the house and into the world. Reinventing our relationship with this colorful tradition, YARN weaves together wool graffiti artists, circus performers, and structural designers into a visually-striking look at the women who are making a creative stance while building one of modern art's hottest trends.

Jasmin mentions Barbara Kingsolver.

Tour de Fleece Training:(48:06)

Assignments for weeks' three and four: spin one ounce of your fiber to determine how you want to spin your project.

Check the condition of your tools, bobbins are available, drive band is in good shape, oil for the wheel and a timer to make sure you take breaks regularly.

And Sew On:(51:32)

Gigi has been marking her fitting shell. The polyester content in the gingham makes it resist the dressmaker's carbon paper, so she is using a fine point Sharpie for marking. Also, she has started sewing in the darts.

Landon cardigan is finished! 380 yards done! Pictures haven't been taken yet, because it has been to hot to stuff Rex into a wool sweater. (CORRECTION: Now we have.) Jasmin mentions a pearl of wisdom from Lucy Neatby. She also mentions address labels from Sterling Name Tapes and the size labels from ShuShu Styles.

Tuesday, Jasmin did a Periscope of her pinning grosgrain ribbon onto the button band on the Welcome to the Flock for Rex. (The intent was to film like a Craftsy class.  She borrowed a GoPro to get optimal visual quality.)

It is steeked, first band is done. Jasmin is planning to do Anna Zilborg's knitted bound buttonhole out of Splendid Apparel. We mention the Grosgrain Ribbon Tutorial. zipper facings are knit, ready for zipper to be installed. Maybe she will  do a Periscope on sewing on a button.
Also she is amazed by the technique of attaching the buttonband with a crocheted slip stitch bind off.

Gigi has been working on the Odelia, and she needs to make the shoulders narrower.
Gigi finally started her Copperplate for the #elizalong!

Jasmin has been working on the Coronation cardigan, and we Periscope-d when she cut the steek.
She wants to try Quilt Clips instead of pins for holding grosgrain ribbon.

Gigi is knitting more socks out of Opal yarn. She cast on a pair of socks for Sam.
Also she took pictures of the preemie hats that she has knitted (so far) this year.

Jasmin has made a bit of progress on the Spock sweater.
Jasmin revived her SPAKAL 2014 cardigan.  #stashdash2016 #teamcuteknitter

Mother Knows Best:(28:36)

This week we discuss differences in technique when it comes so sewing grosgrain ribbon.

When Knitting Attacks:(34:02)

Gigi was on a roll knitting the Copperplate, and overshot the end and had to frog about an inch.

Review:(35:20)

This week we review

Teach Yourself Visually Color Knitting, by  Mary Scott Huff

Jasmin thinks this is a good companion book to the Philosopher's Wool Technique book.
We mention Annetarsia.

Gigi mentions millefiori pieced quilts.
Jasmin wants to learn crewel embroidery from Joanna Johnson

Tour De Fleece Training:(44:27)

We are late and doubling up on the assignments. Pick your project and weigh out your fiber. If you want to wash your fiber yourself, you need to get busy with that. Handcyclers are welcome on Team Sasquatch, but are not recognized by the official Tour de Fleece group.

And Sew On:(47:28)

Jasmin is sewing ribbon and zippers. She uses an adhesive thimble-it to protect her fingers.
She ordered a zipper nipper and she is reminiscing about getting a custom zipper from ZipperStop, and she has bought zipper stops. Also she likes her wire cutters better than the zipper nipper.
She mentions the article in threads magazine on how to shorten zippers .

Gigi is still fighting with marking the gingham for her sloper. She tried a Micron pen.

Jasmin is competing with Emily of the Knitting Butterflies podcast #stashdash2016 #teamcuteknitter
There is a bit of trash talking. She has been working on the Landon sweater, and needed to make it in to a cardigan.

Gigi has been knitting Vanilla socks out of Opal yarn.

Jasmin also sewed the steek on the Coronation cardigan  on her Singer Featherweight sewing machine using an Even feed presser foot.

Gigi went to Spinning at the Retzlaff Winery and had a lovely time with Dr Gemma. Dinner afterwards came from Adelita's Restaurant.

Jasmin is working on the second sleeve of the Spock Sweater,
while watching Turn.

She mentions the Elsa Sweater and decided to give the  Coronation cardigan  a facing also. she will also steek it.

Welcome to the Flock for Rex

She also has made some progress on the Fancy Zebra cowl #zebralong

Mother Knows Best:(22:42)

This week we answer a question from the "What do you want to hear about?" thread in the forum
about steeking.

When Knitting Attacks:(29:04)

Gigi missed picking up corner stitches on a pair of Vanilla socks.
She had been working on the Odelia and noticed that she needs to do more decreases, so she needs to pull back fronts, sleeves, and the back.

Jasmin was doing colorwork on the coronation cardigan, and missed something.

Review:(36:17)

This week we review Legendary Knits Volume I, Volume II, and Volume III  by Anne Podlesak

And Sew On:(51:37)

Sam wants shorts, and Gigi dug out an empty pattern sleeve for parachute pants from the 80s.

Jasmin's sewing machine was rattling and sounded like it needed to be oiled, and she thinks the manual needs to be consulted before putting oil anywhere.

On The Needles:(0:52)

Jasmin gave an update for  #stashdash2016, #teamcuteknitter .

Gigi is gloating over how she is killing it at Stash Dash. She has bound off the Trouvaille. The Peppermint Mocha socks are done, the Fancy Zebra cowl is bound off, and a pair of Opal vanilla socks are done. Petra, knitted years ago, that had lost the bind off row, was bound off, and the Odelia is being finished. (CORRECTION: I [Gigi] referred to it as the Ophelia. My bad.)

Jasmin has been working on the Spock sweater, and is about an inch away from the sleeves. The Welcome to the Flock is getting close to steeking, but unplying yarn and knitting it with fewer plies did not work.

Jasmin mentions the Anna Zilborg Buttonhole, or Ysolda Teague's one row buttonhole.

Gigi has knitted a preemie hat every day for her personal crazy: One a Day in May

Jasmin has picked up the Coronation cardigan again.

Gigi also bound off the Viajante #Behmalong. Jasmin is thinking of blocking and talking about the Beyond Clean Fibre Wash. .

Jasmin is making progress on her Fancy Zebra cowl #zebralong. And she is excited about wearing her Three Color Cashmere cowl when it gets cold again.

Events:(16:50)

Gigi will be attending Spinning at the Retzlaff Winery, with Dr. Gemma.

Contest:(18:55)

Gigi mentions Susan B. Anderson's new pattern Sheep!, which are absolutely charming.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#elizalong, #projectsweaterchest, the purpose is to knit a chest full of sweaters for yourself.

 Mother Knows Best:(21:52)

This week we answer a question from the "What do you want to hear about?" thread in the forum
about knitting preemie hats. C.C Almon has a pattern.

And we try answering a question about knitting retreats.
We mention Camp KIP, the Cogknitive Retreat, Paula from the Knitting Pipelines, SSK hosted by the Knit Girllls, the Twin Set Camp, the make.love.wear retreat at Asilomar

When Knitting Attacks:(29:01)

Jasmin was knitting the Coronation cardigan and color work and decreases didn't fall in the right spot, so she had to pull out six rows of color work.

Gigi has been swatching for the Copperplate and her swatches are not on target.
