Do you have a favorite fall scent? We know that Bar-Maids customers do. Nine years as a top seller, Betty Boo, is a mix of bitter orange and orchid. Sounds a bit floral – right? But Betty is NOT floral…she’s actually quite spicy.  Little Pumpkin has very devoted fans with its fresh from the oven top notes of buttery pumpkin not to be outdone by those middle notes of clove and allspice.  Hot Toddy, introduced last year, was such a hit that he’s back. Hot buttered rum – oh yum!  Queen’s Bun’s, a custom scent made exclusively for Jimmy Bean’s Wools last year can only be described as  cinnamon buns fresh from the oven and delicious enough for royalty.  If your local store doesn’t have these in stock, ask them to special order them for you. Otherwise, order on line at www.bar-maids.com

  1. Gigi, Instead of doing the math, try one of Amy Herzog's CustomFit patterns. You already have your swatch--read on website how she does the measuring--so all you need is measurements. You will love it.

  2. oops. Forgot this other subject.

I believe the old-fashioned tinsel that was so great had lead in it ( along with, I'm guessing, tin to make it shiny) which is what made it so heavy. [Lead is a very flexible and tough metal, also properties of the tinsel I remember. That plastic stuff doesn't even some close!]

  3. I have to speak up. As a knitter, quilter, seamstress, rug hooker, and giver of gifts, I have to say that you need to pull out that list of wonderful people who gave you gifts for your baby shower and send sincere, humble, belated thank yous to EVERYONE on the list. It is heartbreaking to make something lovely and thoughtful and never receive a thank you. That is very bad manners, but it isn't too late! Make it your New Year's Resolution, do the right thing.

  4. I agree about the lead in the tinsel, at least here in America in the 50's and 60's. I believe it was phased out at about the same time house paint with lead was discontinued - very poisonous, especially for little people crawling around chewing on things. I remember my brothers used to crush the lead tinsel into little balls and use it for "ammo" for their green army man wars in the sandbox.
